Hi Triangleites!
We're thinking about getting our backyard fenced in, and we're looking for recommendations for a fencer - honest, reliable, and inexpensive. ;)
Thanks! |

| Dangerous sublettor--update |
[May. 9th, 2008|01:35 pm] |
Just wanted to let y'all know that the "sublettor" I posted about on Monday has been apprehended by the Carrboro PD as of yesterday afternoon. He's facing sexual battery charges, which might mean he has to register as a sex offender.
Thanks very much for all your support. |

| It’s Spring |
[May. 9th, 2008|09:18 am] |
Now that it’s spring time, Timin likes to go out on the balcony and enjoy the cool night air.
Last night, I found him under the barbecue. Now the barbecue has this little tarp that shelters it from the rain, which makes it very comfortable. So comfortable, that some pigeons had built a nest. Not long after he'd crawled in there, I heard some cooing and a fluttering of wings.
I lifted the tarp to see Timin looking at a lone pigeon egg in the nest. I asked him, “are you going to eat it?”
In response, he rolled the egg off the edge of the balcony. Then he peered over the edge to watch it splatter below. Finally, he looked up at me expectantly and meowed.
I couldn’t stop laughing. |

Besides, sometimes just writing it out (again) will bring a breakthrough.

Wednesday afternoon I was in a parking lot, trying to get a photo of moving subjects. Then I was explaining no, I was fine and unhurt to people wondering why I was lying full-length and face down on asphalt in my usual suit.

ok, triangleites. another house hunting related question for you (and thanks for sharing your experiences with gas heat a while back)...
does anyone have a hot water heater installed outdoors?
yup, i said outdoors. the house i looked at most recently has its hot water heat installed outside the house. not in a partially finished basement, shed, lean-to or garage - just sitting outside, next to the heat pump in its own little metal um... hut? which is not much bigger than the actual hot water heater (and which i certainly hope is insulated in some way). its a gas hot water heater. it is not a tankless hot water heater, nor a solar one.
i've never heard of putting a hot water heater outside before, and once i figured out what was in the tall metal box, it kind of took my by surprise. i mean, i know this is the south and all, but it does get cold and sometimes snowy or icy in december, january and february. cold enough i'd think to give an outdoor hot water heater some trouble.
so, does anyone have any experience with this? how does it work for you? what sorts of problems have you run into?
if not, thanks anyway. this is one i'll be sure to ask the home inspector about. |

| Iron Man |
[May. 7th, 2008|10:08 pm] |
As badger already mentioned, ovrclokd and I joined him and maegwynn at Mission Valley last night for dinner at Baja Burrito followed by the 7:05 showing of Iron Man. I really enjoyed it and had a very nice evening out with friends. There were a few sequences in the movie that were fairly predictable, but the acting from the three main characters -- especially Robert Downey, Jr. -- was good, and the action was fun. As you've probably already heard if you haven't been hiding under a rock, if you see the movie, make sure to stay through the end of the credits. |
